Safeguarding Week Nov 2021
Safeguarding week will take place from Monday 15 November to Sunday 21 November 2021. It’s an opportunity to raise the importance of safeguarding and highlight key issues. We hope the week will enable organisations and individuals to feel confident in recognising the signs of abuse and neglect and how to report concerns.
Each day we will focus on specific topics around the theme of creating safer cultures. You can sign up for our daily bulletins and join in the conversation on Facebook and Twitter.
Mon - Emotional abuse and safeguarding mental health
Tue - The Power of Language
Wed - Digital Safeguarding
Thu - Grooming and exploitation
Fri - Creating safer organisational cultures
Sat - Your role in safeguarding
Monday 15 to Friday 19 November - The Ark at Waitrose vaccination site
From Monday 15 November to Friday 19 November volunteers from The Ark will be at the vaccination centre (Waitrose Sports and Leisure Centre, Willoughby Road, Bracknell RG12 8FP) providing information on how to choose care, help and support safely for adults and how to safely choose clubs, groups, help and support for children
Tuesday 16 November - safeguarding team in town centre
On Tuesday 16 November we will be in Bracknell town centre to provide advice and answer any of your safeguarding questions. Bracknell Forest Council, Thames Valley Police, Trading Standards, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and The Ark will be there at various times during the day. They will provide information and leaflets on supporting families, young carers, digital inclusion for older people, how to stay safe online, fraud, domestic abuse, child criminal and sexual exploitation and where to go for help and support. If you’ve got any questions or need support, come and find us outside Waterstones in The Lexicon from 10am to 4pm.
Wednesday 17 November - online safeguarding forum
On Wednesday 17 November we have our first online safeguarding forum. This event will be opened by our Bracknell MP James Sunderland and followed by a number of speakers who will highlight local safeguarding issues, why awareness in the community is so important and how to foster a positive safeguarding culture. We will share what can be learned from local case studies and how we can work together to improve outcomes for children and vulnerable adults. Find out more and register your place.
Thursday 18 November - multi-agency learning event
On Thursday 18 November we have a multi-agency learning event which shares learning with practitioners from a recent Safeguarding Adult Review (SAR). This learning brief and others from across Berkshire for both children's and adults are available on our website.
We have two videos which raise the importance of safeguarding from health and Bracknell Islamic Cultural Society (BICS)
This tool has been designed to help organisations look at their safeguarding responsibilities in a proportionate response. The four areas should be considered alongside the multi-agency guidance for adults and children's that details the procedures and practice standards for safeguarding across Berkshire.
There is also further guidance 'Too Important to Get Wrong' to accompany the tool.
