Preventing Radicalisation
PREVENT’ is a government initiative that seeks to co-ordinate the disruption of radicalisation and provides support for those who may have become involved. Radicalisation means someone is being encouraged to develop extreme views or beliefs in support of terrorist groups and activities.
The local authority has the lead role to deliver the Prevent strategy in Bracknell Forest and have produced a guide that provides local practitioners with information and details of where to go for support. More information about how this is being managed within the borough can be found at preventing violent extremism.
Reporting concerns
If you believe someone is vulnerable and at risk of being radicalised you can report concerns to the council’s community safety team on 01344 352999 (answerphone), or contact the police locally on 101 and in an emergency on 999.
If you are concerned about material promoting hate crime, extremist behaviour or terrorism please report it.
Useful resources
Although the following links introduce materials aimed at those working in schools they will be of interest to a wider range of professionals (including volunteers) who have responsibility for safeguarding children/young people from hate crime and extremist violence.
In addition, HM Government e-learning is available and may complement that available through individual partner agencies.
